Our yurt campsite is positioned in a tranquil field behind the farm, overlooking our paddocks and with views stretching for miles. We also have chickens on the farm and there’s plenty of wildlife to spot (rabbits, deer, pheasants and other birds). The yurts are positioned so that each offers a degree of privacy and each has its own outdoor seating and barbecue area.
As the name suggests, this is our barn conversion, designed with our guests’ comfort and privacy in mind. In the spirit of luxury camping, we created six individual lockable shower rooms (one for each yurt), a beautifully equipped modern kitchen area with two ovens, sinks and hobs and six individual fridges so that guests won’t get their Dorset Blue Vinny mixed up with their Dorset Knobs.
Our spacious lounge and dining area has toys, games, a television and books to browse. It also has stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
Here’s a list of basic essentials to make your yurt farm holiday in Dorset even more enjoyable: Torch, matches, firelighters, cool box, wellies, soft shoes for inside the yurts, tea towels, dish cloths, washing up liquid, toilet rolls (we will start you off with a couple of firelighters and a toilet roll).
When we started renting out our holiday cottage four years ago, we had to come up with a name. Caalm Cottage was the combination of the first letter of all the names in our family: Caryl, Anna, Ashley, Lisa and Mark.
We enjoyed having people to stay very much, and had some lovely feedback, so we decided to think about expanding – and so the yurts arrived! However Caalm Cottage is also available to rent for those not quite so keen to sleep under the stars, so do please ring to check availability and prices on 01747 838565.
