Winter is, without doubt, a magical time of the year. It’s also a time for family to come together. Here at Caalm Camp that seasonal magic can be found in every element of your stay, from the crisp frost under foot as you leave the enveloping warmth of your cosy yurt, to the crackling sound of the wood burner whilst you’re snuggled under the bed linen.
So why choose family glamping in Dorset this winter? There is a wealth of seasonal attractions on Caalm Camp’s doorstep and one in particular is bound to leave you mesmerised. The Festival of Light, held at Longleat, can be found just 24 miles from Caalm Camp (just over 30 minutes in the car). Each year sees a different theme of spectacular Chinese lanterns, and this year has been titled, “A Fantastic Voyage.”
Over 600,000 bulbs have been used to create this magical trip. Brother and sister duo, Harry and Bea, will accompany you along with their fearless terrier Monty. The journey takes you on a wonderful trip around the world and on to outer space! You’ll travel through Ancient Egypt, the frozen Arctic, India, Japan… You’ll even get a little trip under the sea. After all that, you can take a visit to the 50ft enchanted Christmas tree – a tree which tells a magical festive story with use of light and sound. It’s not uncommon to see jaws dropping on children as the tree stirs to life to begin its tale. Or perhaps “A Flight Before Christmas” – a unique festive experience featuring real flying owls?
This is a hugely popular family event and therefore booking is advised to avoid disappointment. If you’re planning a midweek family glamping trip then you do have a distinct advantage as weekends get booked extremely quickly. Take a look at our availability alongside the Longleat website to plan your “voyage” – and remember – your enchanting trip doesn’t finish at Longleat. When you return to Caalm Camp, the real magic of winter wraps you up. Our local owls love to say goodnight, so listen out for them too!
