About our Yurts and Glampsite

Tucked away in deepest Dorset, Caalm Camp offers a very unique glamping experience.  Our camp boosts 6 beautifully-painted, hand-crafted, luxuriously-furnished, authentic Mongolian Yurts with exceptional facilities in an idyllic setting.  Our holidays cater for all levels of glamping experience, so will appeal to all people including disabled people.  Amid such quintessentially English surroundings the Mongolian yurts of Caalm Camp could almost feel out of place.  But with so much love and attention put into our site, from the hand-painted lattice work of the yurts to the wheelbarrows waiting for you in the car park, this is a place where you cannot help but feel completely at home.

Aerial View

We have suitably named each of our yurts after British native wildflowers in keeping with the farm location: Daisy (1),  Buttercup (2), Snowdrop (3), Bluebell (4), Cowslip (5) and last but not least, Foxglove (6).  Go to aerial view for the exact position of each yurt on our site, and for a close-up before you choose the one you like to stay in, then book with us.

Home from Home comfort

The yurts may be authentically Mongolian on the outside, but on the inside each yurt benefits from every modern home comfort you can think of, making for a 21st century glamping haven.  Comprising one double wrought iron bed, two Victorian day beds, all sumptuously dressed with fresh luxury linen, the yurts also have their own electricity supply for lighting and charging all of your devices.  They are deceptively spacious, so we had plenty of room left over to throw in a small stove, complete with a  Mongolian style kettle, so that you can still enjoy your morning or evening cuppa in bed. The piece de resistance has to be a beautiful wood burner which we have positioned right at the heart of the each yurt, allowing the heat to radiate outwards in all directions.

Yurt and Camp Facilities

We believe we have thought of everything to make your glamping stay with us the best it can be, so our yurt and camp facilities are of an exceptional standard.  Each yurt boasts its very own outdoor picnic and sitting area, comprising table and benches,  parasol, barbecue and private fire pit. You can light up the barbecue anytime of day or night without bothering your fellow glampers, or simply relax and marvel at our breathtaking countryside and spectacular starry sky around the communal fire pit on a chilly night.

Rainy Days

The inviting communal lounge, complete with games, books and TV is the perfect rainy day retreat. Each yurt benefits from its own fridge, drawers and cupboards in the communal kitchen along with their own lockable wet-room that houses a disability-friendly walk-in shower, toilet and vanity unit for toiletries.  Why not cook you favourite meal and watch a good movie on the box.

Ideal for Kids and Adults

Caalm Camp boasts plenty of space for kids, as well as a wooden playground, while stepping beyond the boundaries you can find many fabulous walks, especially in nearby Duncliff Wood, which is captivatingly beautiful during in bluebell season between March and June.  Right on the doorstep is also historic Bullbarrow Hill, where you can enjoy exquisite panoramic views over Dorset and our surrounding counties.  Just a short drive away is historic Shaftesbury, where you will find Gold Hill, made famous by the Hovis advert, a steep cobbled street leading up to an old church and ancient market place.

The perfect Setting

The remote location of Caalm Camp is the perfect setting for star-gazing at night, spending hours staring up at the light pollution-free sky whilst sipping on a hot chocolate or crisp glass of wine with your nearest and dearest.  You will notice that the stars appear brighter and more abundant due to the absence of large cities or towns nearby.  Look out for a shooting star or two and make a wish.  It might come true!
